Job description
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Corrugreen CC, a manufacturer of corrugated packaging, is looking for a sharp-eyed Quality Controller to be the eyes of quality on our production floor. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will inspect and test raw materials, in-process board and finished boxes against customer specifications and approved samples, so that only conforming product leaves our gates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Test and release incoming paper reels and starch/adhesive (grammage, moisture, Cobb, RCT/CMT) and verify supplier Certificates of Analysis.
- Quarantine, tag and report non-conforming material.
- Carry out first-off approvals and scheduled in-process checks on the corrugator and converting lines (caliper, ECT, bond, warp, dimensions, scoring, print and glue).
- Place out-of-spec product on hold and alert the Shift Supervisor immediately.
- Inspect finished goods using AQL sampling and sign off batches for dispatch.
- Keep retained samples, QC check sheets and test logs accurate and audit-ready, and prepare Certificates of Conformance.
- Verify test equipment daily, submit an end-of-shift QC report, and keep the laboratory clean and safe.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualification: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics and Physical Science.
- Experience: At least 2 years of quality control or laboratory testing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Testing: Hands-on experience with board and paper tests such as Mullen burst, ECT, BCT, flat crush, caliper, moisture and Cobb.
- Specifications: Able to read job cards, die-line drawings and customer specifications, and measure accurately.
- Computer skills: Comfortable recording results in Excel or a quality management system.
- Shifts: Willing and able to work shifts.
ADVANTAGEOUS:
- A National Certificate or Diploma in Quality Management, Pulp and Paper Technology, Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience in corrugated packaging, paper or printing, including in-process inspection on corrugators, printers, die-cutters or folder-gluers.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and FSSC, ISO or SANS test methods; internal auditor training.
THE RIGHT PERSON WILL BE:
Detail-driven, with a keen eye for subtle defects; confident enough to stop a run when quality is at risk; a clear, respectful communicator with operators and supervisors; and reliable, methodical and disciplined on every shift.
Pay: R7 000,00 - R8 000,00 per month
Application Question(s):
