Introduction:

Komatsu Africa Holdings is looking for a technically skilled individual to join their Remanufacturing Division as a Quality Controller.

Job Purpose:

To ensure the consistent quality of remanufactured heavy earthmoving components by implementing and maintaining rigorous inspection, testing, and documentation standards in line with OEM, industry, and remanufacturing best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspection and Testing:
• Conduct detailed inspections of disassembled, cleaned, repaired, and reassembled components (eg., engines, transmissions, hydraulics).
• Verify compliance with OEM specifications and remanufacturing standards (RIC001.2-2021).
• Quality Control Planning:
• Develop and maintain Quality Control Plans (QCPs) for each product line.
• Apply statistical process control and root cause analysis to identify and mitigate defects.
• Documentation & Compliance:
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) remanufacturing standards.
• Process Impovement:
• Recommend and implement improvements to inspection and testing procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize quality outcomes.
• Training & Support:
• Train production staff on quality standards and inspection techniques.
• Provide technical support to internal teams regarding quality issues.

Qualifications:

• N6 National Diploma: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Quality Management.
• Certifications in ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or NDT (Non-destructive Testing) are advantageous.

Experience:

• Minimum 4-6 years in quality control within heavy equipment or remanufacturing environments.
• Hands on experience with CAT, Komatsu, Cummins, Bell, or Volvo components is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with inspection tools (eg., micrometers, calipers, CMMs) and diagnostic software and ensure tools/ equipment are sent for repairs.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
• Condition monitoring experience within remanufacturing environment.

Industry Standards and Best Practice:

• Adherence to RI001.2-2021- the ANSI- approved standard for remanufacturing.
• Implementation of intelligent quality control systems for disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly.
• Focus on sustainability and circular economy principles in quality assurance.
