This role will be responsible for Product development for snacks seasonings, with potential support on other savoury EUM. Industry experience will be a strong advantage in this role, but it is not mandatory.
The role will entail customer facing visits for presentations, and support with factory trials. The role is focused in South Africa & other neighboring countries.
The role will report direct to the RDA manager for snacks. The Scientist will be responsible for the quality, food safety and aesthetics of the product, and he should follow standard development WOW and ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards.
Location : Durban, South Africa
Reporting to : RDA Director South Africa
Key responsibilities
- Develop products that meets customer briefs, within customer expected deadlines and price targets.
- Proactively create and enhance products that close market gaps or allow Kerry customers to remain competitive.
- Document ingredients, formulations, processes, and other testing involved with new product development.
- Organizing and participating in sensory evaluation and trials of products.
- Generating ideas for new products and researching feasibility in terms of profitability, resource availability and compliance with regulations.
- Conducting good laboratory practices which includes maintaining laboratory and equipment hygiene.
- Preforming any other duty as it may be assigned by the office and line manager. Qualifications and skills
- Preferably a bachelor’s degree in food science and technology/microbiology.
- Preferably a minimum 3 years product development & or process and manufacturing experience.
