Frogfoot is a leading open-access fibre infrastructure provider in South Africa. We build and operate fibre networks that connect homes, businesses and communities, working with multiple Internet Service Providers to deliver reliable connectivity across the country.

Purpose of the Role

The Receptionist Intern will provide a professional and welcoming reception service while supporting the team with general administration, visitor management, telephone and email enquiries, meeting room coordination, office supplies and basic office housekeeping.

The role is designed to provide practical workplace experience while developing the intern's communication, administrative, customer service and organisational skills.

What You'll Be Doing

Reception & Front Desk

  • Welcome and assist all visitors, contractors and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage the reception area and ensure visitors are directed to the appropriate employee.
  • Answer, screen and transfer incoming telephone calls.
  • Take accurate messages and ensure they are passed on promptly.
  • Respond to general enquiries or direct queries to the relevant department.
  • Assist with signing visitors in and following visitor procedures.

Meeting & Office Support

  • Assist with meeting room bookings and preparation.
  • Ensure meeting rooms are neat, tidy and ready for meetings.
  • Assist with refreshments and basic meeting requirements where required.
  • Support the coordination of visitors, interviews, meetings and deliveries.

Administration

  • Assist with general administrative duties and data capturing.
  • Maintain reception records, visitor registers and relevant trackers.
  • Assist with filing, scanning, printing and document management.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail, parcels and deliveries.
  • Assist with courier bookings and collections.
  • Support the ordering and monitoring of basic office supplies.

Office Housekeeping & Environment

  • Maintain a clean, neat and professional reception area.
  • Conduct regular checks of reception, meeting rooms and shared office areas.
  • Ensure reception stationery, visitor information and basic supplies are kept organised.
  • Report any office maintenance, cleaning or facility-related issues to the relevant person.
  • Assist with keeping shared spaces presentable and ready for employees and visitors.
  • Support basic office housekeeping activities, including tidying meeting rooms and shared areas.

Note: Housekeeping duties are focused on maintaining a neat, organised and welcoming office environment and do not replace the responsibilities of the cleaning or facilities team.

Customer & Employee Service

  • Provide friendly and professional assistance to employees, visitors and external stakeholders.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues and visitors.
  • Handle information professionally and maintain confidentiality.
  • Escalate queries or issues to the appropriate person when required.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is friendly, professional, reliable and ready to learn.

You should:

  • Be a South African Citizen.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years of age.
  • Have completed Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Have a 3-year Degree or Diploma in Administration, Business Administration, Office Management, Hospitality, Customer Service or a related field; OR
  • Have a relevant Higher Certificate or Occupational Qualification at NQF Level 5.
  • Be currently unemployed.
  • Not be enrolled in any MICT SETA or other SETA-funded programme.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be comfortable interacting with people face-to-face and over the telephone.
  • Be organised, presentable and detail-oriented.
  • Be willing to learn new systems and processes.
  • Be comfortable performing general administrative and office support duties.
  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.

No previous formal reception experience is required.

Computer Skills We Value

You don't need to be a computer expert, we're looking for someone who is comfortable with technology and willing to learn.

We value familiarity with:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel – basic data capturing and formatting
  • Microsoft Outlook and email
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Online calendars and meeting bookings
  • Shared documents and digital filing
  • General computer and internet literacy

The ability to learn new systems quickly will be a big plus.
