Regional Sales Team Leader

We are seeking a driven and experienced Regional Sales Team Leader to build, mentor, and manage a team of commission-based field sales agents for our funeral cover brokerage in the Pietermaritzburg and greater Zululand region. In this role, you will lead grassroots marketing efforts, drive policy sales targets, and ensure strict regulatory compliance while empowering local agents to build successful careers in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Recruitment & Onboarding: Source, interview, and onboard motivated field agents with strong local networks and community roots in the Vryheid area.
• Sales Leadership & Coaching: Lead daily or weekly team huddles, provide field-based training, and mentor agents on sales techniques, objection handling, and product features.
• Target Achievement: Drive your team to meet and exceed monthly policy acquisition and retention targets.
• Compliance Oversight: Ensure all agents operate strictly within Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and FAIS guidelines, maintaining ethical sales practices and accurate documentation.
• Field Support: Accompany agents into the field, assist with high-value community presentations, and help build relationships with local burial societies and community groups.
• Performance Reporting: Track daily and weekly sales metrics, manage team pipelines, and report directly to management on regional performance and growth opportunities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in team leadership, field sales, or agency management within the insurance or financial services sector.
• Matric certificate is essential; a relevant tertiary qualification or regulatory exams (e.g., RE5 / Fit and Proper accreditations) are a strong advantage.
• Deep familiarity with the Vryheid geographic area and surrounding rural communities.
• Fluent in isiZulu and English (verbal and written).
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of motivating and managing people.
• Access to reliable transport or familiarity with local travel routes in the region.
