Job description
We are currently fielding candidates for a Registered Nurse position, for our client based in the South of Johannesburg.
The ideal candidate must be a Registered Nurse with at least 5 years’ anaesthetics and recovery experience. Computer literacy is also a must in terms of experience, and with additional preferred experience in stock management. The position can be fielded either as a full-time or half-day position, Monday to Friday from 7am.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Maintaining and utilizing a high level of clinical expertise to ensure patient care standards are met.
- Providing visible nursing services, mentoring, and support to the rest of the nursing team.
- Assisting the matron and deputy matron in their absence.
- Contributing to the overall delivery of excellent patient-centered service.
- Stock ordering online or via email.
- Assisting with administrative tasks related to nursing operations.
- Working effectively with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
- Ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Directly involved in patient care as needed.
Skills required:
Clinical Expertise
Advanced Anaesthetics and Recovery Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of anaesthetic techniques, drugs, and equipment.
- Pre-operative assessment and post-operative care experience.
- Supporting the anesthesiologist
- Preparing equipment
- Monitoring patients before, during, and after surgery
- Managing recovery from anesthesia, including pain control and monitoring vital signs
- Emergency airway management and resuscitation skills.
Theatre and Perioperative Care
- Comprehensive knowledge of operating theatre protocols.
- Infection control, sterile techniques, and patient positioning.
Patient Safety and Risk Management
- Familiarity with protocols like WHO surgical checklist, incident reporting, and root cause analysis.
