Registered Nurse (Psychiatric)

Our private Mental Health Hospital is currently recruiting the Registered Nurses (Psychiatry), based in the Pretoria West area. The successful candidates will be responsible .for ensuring that the patients receives optimal care in accordance with company and hospital strategic objectives and Legislative framework.

Key Performance areas

· Provide and supervise nursing care in accordance with ethical codes that directly and indirectly guide nursing practices

· Preparation for and assistance with operative, diagnostic and therapeutic acts for the patient

· Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors

· Maintain professional conduct and standards at all times in accordance with hospital policies and procedures

· Handling of patient complaints and keep accurate records at all times

· Ensure patient care, counseling and supervise junior nurses

· Provide safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors

· Liaise with Nursing manager on matters relating to patient care

· Supervising medication schedules and evaluating patient progress

· Collaborate with a variety of interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best possible care for their patients

· Provide social support for patients by creating and encouraging patients to take advantage of opportunities such as support groups, social activities and other therapeutic measures, as well as participating with patients where appropriate

· Document all patient information on medical charts and followdoctors written orders.

· Maintain patient confidentiality

· Develop and maintain constructive relationships with nursing and stakeholders (multi-disciplinary team)

· Ensure all stock is well controlled and managed

· Participate in the analysis, formulation of nursing guidelines, norms and standards

· Attend handover of report at shift commencement and manage shift in the absence of the manager

· Adhere to the Hospital's medical waste management and Infection control principles

· Attend monthly nursing meetings

· Consistent responsibility of record keeping of patient’s files on admission and discharge

· Perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the Nursing Manager (Matron) or senior managers

. Handle drug key room

. Know the importance of drug book

. Be a drill leader

Education, skills and Experience

· Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing including Psychiatric Nursing

· Registered with SANC

· Atleast One (1) year experience in Psychiatric nursing

· Good communication skills (verbal and written)

· Good interpersonal relationship

· Psychiatric Nursing Skills

· Problem-solving

· Team work

· Willing to work shifts

· Computer Literacy ( IT skills)
