Job description
Overberg Tehuis, Riviersonderend
(Located on the N2 between Caledon and Swellendam)
Overberg Tehuis is a program of Badisa, a joint ministry of the Dutch Reformed Church [Western Cape] and VGKSA [Cape Province]. Applications are invited from enthusiastic, responsible and motivated individuals for this position.
- Holistic knowledge of older people and people with disabilities’ physical, mental and physical health conditions and the approach thereof (nursing care, infection control, observation) according to norms and standards.
- Ensure quality patient care regarding the identification of nursing care needs, planning and implementation of nursing care and the training of Caregivers while at the same time complying with the statutory requirements of professional and ethical practices.
- Knowledge and application of scheduled medication and control thereof (legislation and quality management)
- Good knowledge of administrative requirements, as well as knowledge of policies, protocols, procedures and legislation, asset and financial management as well as being skilled in writing reports and maintaining statistics
- Strong leadership qualities and organizational skills with good human relations (personnel management) with the ability to function within a team and draw up service schedules as well as the development and implementation of procedures and manuals, policy documents and information sheets
- Good communication skills (Afrikaans a requirement); reporting and liaison with colleagues and the elderly as well as computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Responsible and motivated person; self-development and management who is both physically and mentally capable of performing the tasks.
- Willing to work overtime (after hours), shifts and weekends as well as public holidays as per service schedule.
- Be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Personal Indemnity Insurance
