Remote Call Answering Receptionist

Location: South Africa, remote
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:30 UK time
Role type: Self-employed / contractor
Pay: R8,000–R9,000 per month, depending on experience and suitability

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, professional and well-spoken receptionist based in South Africa to answer incoming phone calls for a UK-based IT support company.

Main Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls during UK working hours
  • Greet callers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Take clear and accurate messages
  • Transfer calls to the correct person or department where required
  • Record caller details correctly
  • Remain available and responsive throughout working hours
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

What We Are Looking For

The ideal person will be:

  • Well-spoken, polite and professional on the phone
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Comfortable speaking to UK customers
  • Able to take accurate messages
  • Calm, organised and easy to work with
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Able to work independently from home
  • Based in South Africa

Previous receptionist, call answering or call centre experience would be useful, but the most important things are reliability, professionalism and a good phone manner.

Working Hours

The working hours are:

Monday to Friday
09:00–17:30 UK time

Please note that this role follows UK working hours, so applicants must be available during these times.

Equipment and Working Environment

This is a remote, self-employed role. You will need to provide your own:

  • Computer or laptop suitable for the role
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Headset
  • Quiet working environment
  • Backup plan for power or internet interruptions where possible

You must be able to take calls clearly and professionally without background noise or distractions.

Role Type

This is a self-employed contractor role, not a permanent employed position. You will be responsible for your own tax, equipment, internet, electricity and working setup.
