Job Description

Job Purpose

Responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the restaurant outlet (including food and beverage service) and the management of the team with specific regard to achieving profitability, maximising operational efficiencies and productivities; maintaining the restaurant product and standards of operation; maximising customer satisfaction; controlling operating equipment and stock, and developing a competent team.

Key Performance Areas

• Implement outlet business plans and drive operational excellence in line with the Food & Beverage strategy.
• Manage daily restaurant operations, including shift planning, staffing, cash-ups, stock control, and service delivery.
• Lead and motivate teams through coaching, performance management, training, recruitment, and employee relations.
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences by maintaining high service standards and resolving customer concerns professionally.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health, hygiene, environmental, and company standards.
• Monitor financial performance by managing budgets, payroll, cost of sales, inventory, and operating expenses.
• Drive product and service improvements through promotions, menu enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
• Build strong relationships with guests and stakeholders while supporting brand loyalty and business growth.
• Maintain effective governance, risk management, and compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
• Support transformation, procurement, and BBBEE initiatives in line with organisational objectives.

Job Requirements

Education

3 Year Hotel School Diploma or equivalent National Qualification at a Diploma level

Experience

5-6 years in the food and beverage industry of which at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role within the food and beverage environment

Technical Competencies

• Sound knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, costing, and stock control.
• Strong product knowledge, including wines and specialty beverages.
• Experience in team planning, operational management, and product development.
• Intermediate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience using Micros and Opera systems will be advantageous.
