Retail Kitchen Supervisor

Job description:

The Retail Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a store-based restaurant kitchen,ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and customer service. The role includes supervising kitchen staff, assisting with food preparation and cooking, maintaining plating standards, supporting menu development, and ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment. Previous Sous Chef experience will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

· Supervise and support the daily operation of the kitchen.

· Lead, train, and manage kitchen staff.

· Assist with food preparation, cooking, and plating.

· Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion control standards.

· Support menu planning and implementation.

· Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.

· Manage stock control, ordering, and minimize food wastage.

· Deliver excellent customer service and assist with customer concerns.

· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.

· Support the team during busy trading periods and work hands-on when required.

Minimum Requirements:

· Grade 12 (Matric).

· Relevant culinary qualification will be advantageous.

· Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or similar role.

· Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and plating.

· Experience supervising and leading a team.

· Excellent communication, people management, and customer service skills.

· Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

· Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

· Good organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
