Retail Store Manager

Savemore Spar is looking to hire a Retail Store Manager to oversee the fast-paced, high-volume environment of its food retail outlet. This position requires strict attention to food safety regulations, perishables management, and cold-chain maintenance, alongside standard retail operations.

Job Description:

• Ensure top-tier execution across high-margin departments.
• Enforce First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principles to manage expiry dates and maximize product freshness.
• Monitor and reduce food spoilage, cold-room temperature failures, and stock losses.
• Coordinate with external food vendors and local farmers to secure daily replenishments.
• Uphold stringent occupational health, safety, and local food hygiene regulations.
• Manage multi-lane point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling, and extended trading hours during peak holidays.
• Train and develop staff for excellent customer service.
• Manage inventory and implement effective merchandising.
• Processing of orders in a timely manner.
• Recommend improvements to enhance customer service and product offerings.

Job Requirements:

• Experience working in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or wholesale food environment (e.g., Shoprite, Spar, Pick n Pay, or Woolworths).
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Expert knowledge of gross profit (GP) margins, inventory systems, and heavy team management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Customer-oriented approach.
• Previous retail experience within a similar role is required.
• Computer literate.
