Role Description
The Revenue Accountant – Contingency role is a remote, contract position responsible for managing and reporting revenue-related transactions in compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing and processing contingency-based revenue, preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate revenue recognition and accruals. The role involves analyzing financial data, supporting the preparation of financial statements, and identifying discrepancies or risks related to revenue reporting. The Revenue Accountant will collaborate with finance and operational teams to validate contract terms, update revenue schedules, and prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits. The position also supports continuous improvement initiatives in revenue accounting processes and controls.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and resolve variances.
- Proficiency in revenue recognition principles, including contingency-based revenue, in line with applicable accounting standards.
- Ability to prepare and post journal entries, manage accruals, and maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Experience in preparing, reviewing, and reconciling financial statements and schedules.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA) is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software and ERP systems; strong Excel skills are beneficial.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, audit requirements, and compliance in a finance environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, contract setting while meeting deadlines.
- Prior experience in revenue accounting, contingency or contract-based billing, or shared services environments is preferred.
