About the Role
Ntiyiso is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Revenue Analyst to join our Revenue Consulting division. The successful candidate will support the delivery of municipal revenue management and debt recovery projects by investigating customer account queries, analysing revenue and billing data, processing account adjustments, and identifying opportunities to improve revenue collection and recovery performance. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, sound financial understanding, and the ability to engage professionally with customers, municipal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will take ownership of customer account investigations from initiation through to resolution, ensuring customer concerns are addressed while protecting municipal revenue and supporting sustainable revenue recovery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve customer account queries by analysing billing records, payment histories, meter data and account transactions.
- Validate customer account information against municipal billing systems, supporting documentation and applicable policies.
- Coordinate investigations with Field Operations, Credit Control, GIS teams and municipal departments to obtain supporting evidence and resolve account discrepancies.
- Identify billing errors, account anomalies and revenue leakage opportunities, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the lifecycle of allocated account queries.
- Communicate investigation progress, findings and account outcomes clearly and professionally.
- Support debt recovery initiatives by facilitating payment arrangements and coordinating with Credit Control teams where necessary.
- Prepare and process customer account adjustments, including billing corrections, reallocations, reversals and authorised write-offs.
- Ensure all journal entries and account adjustments comply with municipal policies, delegated authorities and audit requirements.
- Reconcile customer account adjustments and maintain accurate, auditable financial records.
- Prepare reports and analysis to support customer query resolution, revenue recovery and project delivery activities.
- Escalate risks, data issues, billing concerns and customer matters where appropriate.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree, Advanced Diploma or BTech in Accounting, Finance, Municipal Finance, Public Administration, Economics, Business Management, Commerce or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in business administration or related disciplines will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in municipal revenue management, municipal billing, customer account management, debt collection, municipal finance or financial analysis.
- Experience within a municipal revenue enhancement, revenue assurance or consulting environment will be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of municipal revenue management, debt collection processes, customer care and billing systems.
- Knowledge of revenue assurance principles, accounting journals, reconciliations and credit control processes.
- Understanding of relevant municipal legislation, including the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Municipal Systems Act and Property Rates Act.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Munsoft, Venus, SAP, SAMRAS, Sebata or similar platforms.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python or other analytical tools will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
