Risk & Intelligence Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a highly analytical, proactive and systems-driven Risk & Intelligence Manager to lead the organisation’s transition from reactive risk management to predictive, intelligence-led risk prevention.

The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering, analysing and interpreting internal and external intelligence to proactively identify threats, vulnerabilities and emerging risks across the logistics environment. This role will play a critical part in protecting people, assets, cargo and operations through data-driven insights, advanced systems utilisation, proactive investigations and strong stakeholder collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Industry Threat Intelligence & Analysis

• Gather and analyse external intelligence relating to regional threats, organised crime and risks targeting the logistics sector.
• Monitor and identify geographic hotspots associated with hijackings, cargo theft, warehouse incidents and other security threats.
• Analyse internal incident data, audit findings and operational reports to identify trends, patterns and vulnerabilities.
• Develop predictive risk insights through risk heat maps, intelligence dashboards and actionable reports.
• Monitor macro-risk factors, including political unrest, strikes, protests and regulatory changes that may impact operations.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with SAPS, NPA and relevant industry risk forums to facilitate intelligence sharing and collaboration.

Threat Investigations & Proactive Mitigation

• Lead high-priority investigations relating to incidents, fraud, theft and security breaches using intelligence-led methodologies.
• Manage end-to-end investigation processes, including evidence gathering, interviews, documentation and case-file management.
• Oversee surveillance activities, including CCTV analytics and vehicle-tracking intelligence.
• Coordinate integrity testing of security protocols, drivers, guards and operational processes to proactively identify weaknesses.
• Identify emerging threats and recommend preventative measures to reduce operational exposure.

Risk Strategy, Systems & Integration

• Translate intelligence findings into practical operational risk mitigation strategies and countermeasures.
• Conduct specialised risk assessments covering routes, truck stops, cargo, facilities and new operational initiatives.
• Oversee the implementation, optimisation and effective utilisation of intelligence and risk management technologies.
• Integrate information from multiple systems and data sources to produce meaningful, actionable intelligence.
• Partner with operational and management teams to embed intelligence-led risk prevention into day-to-day decision-making.

CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: ADVANCED SYSTEMS COMPETENCY

This role requires advanced systems and data capability — not simply computer literacy.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

• Interpret and analyse complex logistics and operational data.
• Work practically with transport management systems, tracking platforms and telematics.
• Use data analytics tools to identify trends, patterns and emerging risks.
• Integrate multiple data sources into clear, actionable intelligence.
• Utilise advanced reporting and visualisation tools to support management decision-making.
• Analyse CCTV and surveillance data to support investigations and preventative interventions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• NQF Level 6 qualification, preferably a National Diploma in Policing, Security Studies, Risk Management, Management or a related field.
• PSIRA Grade A – Essential.
• Proven experience within Law Enforcement, Private Security, Logistics, Risk Management or a related environment.
• Valid Code EB Driver’s Licence.
• Proven management experience in leading investigations, preferably within a logistics or supply chain environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Practical experience with Power BI or similar data analytics and visualisation tools.
• Experience working with logistics systems, tracking platforms and telematics.
• Experience with CCTV analytics and surveillance technologies.
• Exposure to social media monitoring and/or Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) tools.
• Strong understanding of supply chain risks and risk mitigation strategies.
• Sound knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Act, Law of Evidence and Labour Law.
• Excellent report-writing skills, with the ability to present clear, factual findings and preventative recommendations.
• Strong networking, liaison and stakeholder-management capabilities.
• Ability to work extended hours and travel when operationally required.
