Risk Intern

Job Advert Summary

An exciting opportunity for a Risk Intern to support our Health Risk & Safety department within our mattress manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will assist with identifying workplace hazards, conducting safety inspections, maintaining health and safety documentation, and supporting risk assessments and compliance initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management or Environmental Health & Safety
• Basic understanding of workplace health and safety principles and risk assessment practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and follow established safety procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Workplace Safety Inspections: Assist with routine workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and unsafe working conditions across production and warehouse areas.
• Risk Assessments: Support the identification of workplace hazards and the updating of risk assessments in collaboration with the relevant team members.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Assist with monitoring compliance with company health and safety procedures and applicable safety requirements.
• Incident Reporting: Assist with recording workplace incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Safety Training and Awareness: Support the coordination of safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns for employees.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Assist with monitoring PPE availability, usage, and compliance with workplace safety requirements.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain health and safety records, inspection checklists, risk assessment registers, and incident reports.
• Emergency Preparedness: Assist with monitoring emergency equipment, evacuation signage, and emergency procedures.
• Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the Health Risk & Safety team and assist with other duties or projects as required.
