Safari Sales Team Leader job in South Africa, remote, within the boutique luxury safari sector, offering a competitive basic plus commission. Our client is a boutique, luxury safari tour operator specialising in fully bespoke FIT safaris across southern and east Africa. They design journeys for travellers who want more than a package — they want an experience crafted entirely around them.
The team is small, international and dynamic. They are now seeking an experienced Safari Sales Team Leader based in South Africa to lead the sales function from a work-from-home base, reporting directly to the Sales Manager. This is a senior hire for a business that takes quality seriously at every level.
▌ The Role
In this role, you will lead the safari sales team while carrying your own client portfolio — managing complex FIT enquiries end-to-end, supporting consultants on technical destination knowledge, and driving team performance in line with business targets.
– Lead, support and develop the safari sales team day-to-day
– Manage your own direct FIT safari enquiries and convert to confirmed bookings
– Build and present bespoke luxury itineraries across southern and east Africa
– Drive individual and team revenue targets
– Act as a destination knowledge resource for the wider sales team
– Report directly to the Sales Manager on team performance and pipeline
– Collaborate with the operations team on handover and background support post-sale
– Maintain accurate records using Salesforce CRM
– Uphold industry-leading service standards across every client interaction
▌ Experience Required
– Minimum 5 years’ direct FIT safari sales experience at a senior level
– Extensive first-hand travel knowledge of both southern and east Africa — essential
– Proven ability to lead or mentor a sales team, formally or informally
– Strong track record of converting high-value, bespoke enquiries
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
– Proficient in MS Office; Salesforce experience an advantage
– Highly organised, structured and detail-focused with strong attention to quality
– Able to work independently and lead from a remote, home-office environment
