Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Safety Manager at Franschhoek Wine Tram. The Safety Officer will oversee compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, manage physical security measures, and ensure safe operational practices across all departments. The role is responsible for safeguarding passengers, employees, contractors, company assets, and infrastructure, while fostering a strong culture of safety awareness and accountability.

Qualifications

• Implementing and maintaining Occupational Health & Safety systems and procedures
• Conducting regular risk assessments across transport operations, ticket offices, retail areas, and operational sites
• Identifying hazards and implementing corrective and preventative measures
• Monitoring compliance with safety legislation and company policies
• Investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and compiling detailed reports with corrective action plans
• Overseeing site security protocols and access control measures
• Coordinating emergency preparedness plans and response procedures
• Conducting safety training and toolbox talks for staff
• Ensuring proper record keeping and safety documentation
• Liaising with management and regulatory authorities where required
• Promoting a proactive safety culture across all departments

Requirements

• Willing to relocate and/or commute to the business location
• Own a reliable vehicle
• Hold a valid driving licence
• Able to respond to safety and security situations
