Safety Officer

Introduction

A well-established manufacturing operation situated in Pretoria North is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and to promote a strong safety culture within the workplace

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OHS standards.
• Perform risk assessments and implement preventative safety measures.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, compile reports and analyse safety trends.
• Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are implemented and aligned with legislation.
• Identify unsafe acts or conditions and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Coordinate and deliver health and safety training and awareness initiatives.
• Conduct internal safety audits and maintain compliance with legal and company safety standards.
• Oversee safe handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances and waste.
• Maintain safety registers, records and incident documentation.
• Prepare safety reports and statistics for management.
• Work closely with management to continuously improve workplace safety practices.
• Provide First Aid assistance to employees in the event of workplace injuries or medical emergencies.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12
• Completed qualification in SAMTRAC, HIRA, Incident Investigation (essential)
• First Aid Level 2 (essential)
• Proven experience in a Safety Officer role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation and safety management systems.
• Excellent investigation, reporting and communication skills.
• Ability to promote and enforce a proactive safety culture.
