Job description
Sales Development Representative
Company: Athos AI
About Athos AI
Athos AI is an early-stage technology company building AI-powered training, role-play, coaching, and performance tools for the insurance industry.
We work with health and life insurance agencies, call centers, carriers, FMOs, and other organizations that need to hire, train, coach, and improve the performance of insurance sales teams.
We are growing quickly and are looking for a high-energy, highly organized Sales Development Representative to help turn our growing volume of leads and prospects into demos, pilots, and customers.
The Role
This is not a traditional high-volume cold-calling SDR position.
Your primary responsibility will be to work the leads, prospects, referrals, and relationships already being generated by Athos AI and consistently move them through the sales pipeline.
You will own the process from initial contact through demo scheduling, confirmation, follow-up, proposal coordination, pilot setup, contract follow-up, and ultimately helping move opportunities toward a decision.
Our founders currently conduct most demos and close most deals. Your job will be to make sure they are speaking with the right prospects, every opportunity has a clear next step, and no strong lead falls through the cracks.
Over time, you will also have the opportunity to run smaller demos, close smaller accounts, and grow into an Account Executive or Sales Operations role.
What You Will Own Lead Follow-Up and Qualification
- Respond quickly to inbound leads, referrals, and interested prospects
- Understand each prospect’s business, needs, team size, and potential fit
- Qualify opportunities before scheduling them with the founders
- Consistently follow up with prospects through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels
- Re-engage older leads and previously stalled opportunities
Demo Scheduling and Coordination
- Schedule qualified demos for the founders
- Confirm meetings and reduce no-shows
- Handle rescheduling and calendar coordination
- Prepare basic prospect context before each meeting
- Make sure every demo has a clear purpose and expected next step
Pipeline Management
- Maintain an accurate and organized sales pipeline in Monday.com
- Ensure every active opportunity has a defined next action and follow-up date
- Identify stalled opportunities and proactively move them forward
- Track proposals, pilots, contracts, follow-up meetings, and pending decisions
- Keep the founders informed about important opportunities, risks, and next steps
- Help improve CRM stages, workflows, templates, and sales processes
Post-Demo Follow-Up
- Send or coordinate demo recaps and next steps
- Follow up on proposals, pilots, contracts, and purchasing decisions
- Coordinate additional meetings with decision-makers or technical stakeholders
- Maintain momentum throughout the sales cycle
- Actively chase outstanding items rather than waiting for prospects to respond
Process Development
- Help build and improve repeatable outreach and follow-up systems
- Create templates, sequences, checklists, and playbooks
- Recommend ways to automate repetitive sales tasks
- Improve how Athos tracks, qualifies, and moves opportunities through the pipeline
- Help establish a sales development function that can scale as the company grows
What Success Looks Like
You will be successful in this role when:
- New leads receive fast and professional follow-up
- Qualified prospects consistently convert into completed demos
- Demo attendance and follow-up rates improve
- The CRM is accurate, organized, and consistently updated
- Every serious opportunity has a clear next step
- Fewer leads and deals are lost because of slow or inconsistent follow-up
- The founders spend more time conducting valuable demos and closing deals
- You become trusted to manage smaller opportunities and eventually close accounts independently
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is energetic, persistent, organized, and excited by the opportunity to help build an early-stage sales organization.
You should have:
- Approximately 2–4 years of SDR, business development, inside sales, or pipeline management experience
- Experience managing leads and opportunities through a CRM
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Confidence communicating with business owners, executives, and senior decision-makers
- Excellent follow-up habits and attention to detail
- The ability to manage a large number of active conversations without losing track of next steps
- A strong sense of urgency and personal accountability
- Comfort working independently in a remote environment
- Availability to work 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time
Experience in SaaS, AI, insurance, call centers, healthcare, or B2B technology is helpful but not required.
The Right Personality
The right person for this position:
- Is naturally high-energy and proactive
- Does not need to be reminded to follow up
- Is persistent without being unprofessional
- Enjoys moving opportunities forward and creating momentum
- Takes ownership rather than waiting for instructions
- Keeps systems clean and organized
- Communicates clearly and directly
- Is comfortable in a fast-moving environment where processes are still being built
- Looks for ways to improve the system instead of simply following it
- Wants the opportunity to grow into a larger sales role
This role is not a fit for someone who wants to simply complete assigned tasks, update a CRM, and wait for leads to respond.
We need someone who will take responsibility for the pipeline and actively drive results.
Tools
You will regularly use tools including:
- Monday.com
- Slack
- Google Workspace
- Email, phone, and video conferencing platforms
- LinkedIn and other prospecting or communication tools
Growth Opportunity
This role has significant room to grow.
A strong performer may have the opportunity to:
- Begin conducting smaller product demos
- Close smaller accounts independently
- Move into an Account Executive role
- Grow into Sales Operations or Revenue Operations
- Help recruit and manage future SDRs
- Play a central role in building Athos AI’s long-term sales organization
Compensation
Compensation will include a competitive base salary and performance-based incentive structure.
- The final structure will depend on experience and will reward both strong pipeline execution and meaningful sales outcomes.
