Job description

Sales Development Representative : Monte & Coe Corporate Gifting

Remote (South Africa based) · Full-time · EST working hours · Paid in USD

We sell things people actually remember. We need someone who can start the conversation.

This is a role for a top 1% performer. Read on and you'll know within a minute whether that's you.

Role Snapshot

  • The role: First point of contact for corporate clients exploring luxury gifting and live, onsite gifting experiences.
  • Where: Fully remote, based in South Africa.
  • Hours: Full-time on EST. For someone in South Africa, that's roughly mid-afternoon into the evening (SAST).
  • Initial Pay: $10,500 USD base, paid in USD. Realistic total earnings of $25,000 to $45,000 in year one depending on performance.
  • Growth: A clear, deliberate path to Junior Account Executive (~$75,000) and Account Executive (~$90,000) for people who earn it.

Who we are

We make luxury everyday essentials: full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather goods crafted in small batches in our Toronto and Montreal studios, built to last a lifetime and be handed down. That's the part you can hold.

The other half of the business is corporate. We design and deliver premium gifting and live, onsite brand experiences for some of the biggest companies in North America. Picture an "Accessories Bar" set up at a client's event, where their guests get one of our items on the spot

. It's high-touch, it's memorable, and it's growing fast. That growth is exactly why we're hiring you.

The role

As our SDR, you're the front door. You find the right companies, reach the right people, and open the conversation that becomes a meeting for our sales team. You're not closing deals yet, but for the right person, that part comes fast. Your job right now is to build pipeline and make every prospect feel like they're dealing with a premium brand from the very first message.

What your day looks like

  • Researching target companies and finding the real decision-makers in HR, Marketing, and executive teams.
  • Reaching out by email, LinkedIn, and phone with messaging that sounds human, not copy-pasted.
  • Qualifying inbound leads from our marketing and ads. We reply within 5 minutes, so speed matters.
  • Booking qualified discovery calls for our Account Executives.
  • Keeping the CRM clean, current, and accurate.
  • Feeding what you hear in the market back to the team so our messaging keeps getting sharper.

Let's be upfront about who this is for

We're not looking for someone to fill a seat. We're looking for someone who wants to be the best, and is willing to do the work to get there. If you want a comfortable job where you clock in, do the minimum, and clock out, this is not it. You will not enjoy it here, and we will both know quickly.

But if you're the kind of person who wants to be a top 1% performer, who takes initiative without being asked, who sees this as the start of a career rather than just a paycheck, and who wants to earn real money by being genuinely excellent, keep reading.

Who thrives here

  • You're ambitious in a way that shows. You want to win, and you're honest about it.
  • You take initiative. You don't wait to be told what to do next; you go find it.
  • You're a natural communicator, in writing and on the phone. People warm to you quickly.
  • You're organized and you follow up. Nothing slips through the cracks.
  • You take rejection on the chin and keep going. Persistence is most of the job.
  • You're coachable and hungry. You want feedback because you want to get better, fast.
  • You carry yourself like a professional, because you are one.
  • You can run your own day in a remote role without anyone standing over you.

Nice to have (but not required)

  • Previous experience in sales development, lead generation, or a customer-facing role.
  • Experience with a CRM (Close, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
  • A genuine eye for, or appreciation of, design, quality, and premium brands.

The part that matters most: earning and growth

We're not offering a job. We're offering a path.

You start as an SDR on a base plus accelerators, so the harder and smarter you work, the more you earn. On top of your base, there are accelerators on qualified appointments and a share of the revenue you help bring in. A strong performer realistically earns $25,000 to $45,000 total in their first year. That's not a distant ceiling; it's a 12 month target for someone who's good.

But the bigger story is what comes next. We're a growing company, which means the ceiling isn't really a ceiling. Prove yourself and you move up.

We would rather promote from within than hire from outside. The person we bring in now is someone we're betting on for the long game. If you're as good as you think you are, this is where you prove it.
