Business Development Manager – Valves & Flow Control (South Africa)

Petropipe is an industrial supply and engineering group serving the mining, oil and gas, petrochemical, power and process industries across Africa and the Middle East. We supply valves, piping, flow control and instrumentation, and are an authorised channel partner for Baker Hughes valve products in multiple countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to grow our business with end users and EPC contractors in South Africa.

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, with frequent travel across South Africa and the region

Key responsibilities

- Build and grow relationships with end users and EPC contractors in mining, petrochemical, refining, power, water and general industry

- Develop account plans for key customers: understand their installed base, upcoming projects and shutdowns, and decide which products and OEM lines to put forward to each

- Shape Petropipe's product and OEM strategy for South Africa based on customer demand, competitor activity and market feedback

- Get Petropipe registered on customer vendor lists and approved on EPC project bid lists

- Identify opportunities early, from project FEED and budget stage through to tender and order

- Work with our application engineers and bid team on technical and commercial offers; negotiate terms and close orders

- Maintain a healthy pipeline in the CRM and report weekly on visits, enquiries, quotes and forecasts

- Represent Petropipe at industry events and customer technical days

Requirements

- Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation or Mining Engineering, or a related field

- 5–10 years' B2B sales or business development in industrial valves, piping, flow control, instrumentation or rotating equipment

- An established network of end-user and EPC contacts in South Africa

- Proven ability to plan and grow key accounts and to meet or beat sales targets

- Confident presenting to engineering, procurement and management teams

- Valid South African driving licence and willingness to travel frequently, including overnight trips

- In line with South African employment and immigration regulations, this position is open only to South African citizens

Advantageous

- Experience with brands such as Masoneilan (Baker Hughes), Fisher, Flowserve, Emerson, Weir or similar

- Existing relationships with major South African mining houses, petrochemical producers, utilities or EPCs

- Experience of supplier development and B-BBEE requirements in customer procurement
