Job description
Sales Manager
Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, Walker Bay, Hermanus | Full-time, permanent | Hybrid: estate, Cape Town and home | Reports directly to the owner
About the estate
Benguela Cove is a luxury wine estate on a Ramsar-listed lagoon in the Kogelberg Biosphere, with wild horses on the banks and over 200 bird species. It has a 750-ton gravity-fed cellar, Moody Lagoon restaurant, twelve luxury villas and the Manor House. Event spaces range from private dining to a 350-guest courtyard. There is also Pirate Adventure Golf, a splash pad and a gallery/shop.
The role
We need a hands-on hunter to own every enquiry that comes into the estate and to go out and create more. You will sell weddings, corporate events and conferences, sporting events and upsell villa stays, taking each from first contact to signed booking. Every booking is a chance to sell more: villas for the guests, wine and bar packages, dining and activities. We expect you to sell the whole estate, not just the room. This is a doer's role. We want someone who picks up the phone, follows up and closes.
What you will do
- Respond to every enquiry the same working day and chase each one to a yes or a no
- Build and run our corporate and conferencing channel, from prospecting to close
- Manage all inbound revenue across weddings, corporate events, sporting events, general events and villas
- Sell the full estate on every booking: accommodation, wine and bar packages, food, activities and extras
- Price bar and food properly, and protect our margins when you negotiate
- Represent the estate at industry shows
- Keep the CRM (Vtiger) current, so every lead is logged and every follow-up diarised
- Report weekly on pipeline, conversion, revenue closed and average spend per booking
- Work with the events, restaurant, villa and marketing teams to deliver what you sell
What you bring
- A proven record of closing business in hospitality, events, MICE, wine-estate or corporate sales
- A track record of growing the value of each deal through upselling and cross-selling
- Existing relationships with corporate buyers or event planners
- Disciplined admin and follow-up, so no lead goes cold
- Daily use of AI tools and comfort with CRM and sales systems
- Confidence negotiating, pitching and cold-calling
- Willingness to travel, and your own transport
