Job description
Job Purpose
The Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling automotive parts to customers, including workshops, mechanics, fleet companies, and retail clients. The role requires strong product knowledge of vehicle parts, the ability to identify customer needs, and the capability to build long-term relationships while achieving sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and sell automotive spare parts and related products to customers.
- Provide expert advice to customers on suitable car parts based on vehicle specifications and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients such as mechanics, workshops, and fleet operators.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the customer base.
- Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Prepare quotations, invoices, and follow up on customer orders.
- Ensure accurate processing of orders and coordinate with the warehouse or workshop for product availability.
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and returns in a professional manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive parts, industry trends, and competitor products.
- Conduct regular client visits and maintain excellent customer service standards.
- Prepare and submit sales reports to management.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in automotive parts sales.
- Deep knowledge of vehicle parts, components, and automotive systems.
- Experience working in a motor spares shop, dealership, or automotive workshop environment.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong sales and negotiation skills.
- Excellent knowledge of automotive parts and vehicle components.
- Good customer service and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good administrative and computer skills (invoicing systems, stock systems, etc.).
- Problem-solving and attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license will be advantageous.
- Ability to work flexible hours when required.
- Knowledge of automotive parts catalogues and systems will be beneficial.

- Achievement of monthly sales targets.
- Customer satisfaction and retention.
- Growth of new customer accounts.
- Accuracy in order processing and product recommendations.
