Meridian Wine Merchants- Sales Representative

Meridian Wine Merchants is looking for a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join our Sales team. This role is responsible for executing sales, merchandising, customer service and trade execution activities across an allocated customer base within a defined territory. The successful incumbent will play a key role in driving product availability, maintaining merchandising standards, building strong customer relationships and ensuring consistent execution of the company's sales strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Achieve sales, volume and distribution targets within the allocated territory.
• Execute structured customer visits in accordance with approved call cycles and routing plans.
• Apply the Meridian "8 Steps of a Call" during every customer interaction.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional service delivery.
• Capture customer orders accurately using company sales systems.
• Ensure products are correctly merchandised, priced and displayed in-store.
• Monitor shelf health, stock availability and pricing compliance.
• Execute promotional activities, displays, tastings and trade activations.
• Capture customer information, pricing audits and merchandising data in real time.
• Monitor competitor activity and provide relevant market intelligence.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and operational standards.
• Care for company equipment, handheld devices and promotional material.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 (Matric)

Experience

• 2–3 years' experience within FMCG, liquor, retail merchandising, hospitality or a related sales environment.

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience using CRM or handheld sales systems.
• Understanding of merchandising principles and pricing audits.

Other Requirements

• Valid South African driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the allocated territory.
