BIGBRANDS is a South African AI-powered e-commerce marketplace connecting local stores, vendors and suppliers with online customers.

Our platform helps businesses that traditionally sell offline establish and grow their online presence through digital storefronts, product management tools, AI-powered product creation and marketing automation.

About the Programme

BIGBRANDS is looking for six motivated final-year students to join our six-month E-commerce Graduate Development Programme.

You will work directly with local businesses, helping shop owners join BIGBRANDS, set up their online stores, list products and learn how to operate their digital storefronts.

The role will involve fieldwork in areas such as Dragon City, China Mall, Small Street, Johannesburg CBD and surrounding areas, as well as ongoing e-commerce and vendor support.

This is a hands-on opportunity designed to provide practical experience in e-commerce, AI, digital marketing, sales and marketplace operations.

What You'll Do

• Visit local stores and introduce business owners to BIGBRANDS.
• Explain the platform and the benefits of selling online.
• Recruit and onboard new vendors.
• Help vendors complete their seller applications and onboarding requirements.
• Assist vendors with setting up their online storefronts.
• Help upload products, images, prices, stock quantities and product information.
• Take clear product photographs when required.
• Review AI-generated product titles, descriptions, categories and images for accuracy.
• Assist with AI-generated marketing content and promotions.
• Help vendors understand and use their BIGBRANDS seller dashboard.
• Assist vendors with maintaining their online product catalogue.
• Follow up with vendors when information or updates are required.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with vendors.
• Collect vendor feedback and report issues or opportunities to the BIGBRANDS team.
• Assist with other e-commerce and marketplace operations as the platform grows.

Who We're Looking For

We're primarily looking for final-year university or college students who are interested in gaining practical business and technology experience.

You should be:

• Confident communicating with business owners and customers.
• Friendly, professional and approachable.
• Comfortable approaching businesses in person.
• Comfortable using smartphones, computers and web applications.
• Interested in e-commerce, technology, AI, marketing or entrepreneurship.
• Organised and able to work independently.
• Willing to learn new systems and processes.
• Able to travel within Johannesburg when required.
• Available to participate for the full six-month programme.

Students studying Marketing, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Retail, E-commerce, Information Systems, Communications or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Previous work experience is not required. Training will be provided.

Programme Allowance & Progression

The six-month programme includes a monthly allowance:

Month 1: R2,000
Months 2–6: R3,000 per month

After successfully completing the six-month programme, selected participants may be offered the opportunity to progress into a BIGBRANDS internship paying R6,000 per month.

Progression to the internship will depend on performance, reliability, programme completion and the needs of the business.
