SAP Financials (FICO) Specialist

Purpose

The SAP Financials Specialist is responsible for the analysis, configuration, enhancement, testing and support of the SAP Financials solution (Financial Accounting and Controlling) within the TNPA SAP environment, in accordance with agreed standards. The role ensures that TNPA’s financial processes are effectively enabled and supported in SAP across its port operations.

The incumbent translates finance business requirements into robust SAP configuration and solutions, provides functional expertise across FI / CO, and supports the finance user community and the broader SAP team.

Responsibilities

• Analyse finance business requirements and configure the SAP Financials solution across FI (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Banks / Treasury) and CO (Cost Centre Accounting, Internal Orders, Profit Centre Accounting, Product Costing, Profitability Analysis).
• Configure and support the New General Ledger / Universal Journal, and support S/4HANA Finance capabilities where applicable.
• Support the integration of Financials with Logistics modules (MM, SD, PS, PM) and with payroll / HR where relevant.
• Prepare functional specifications for developments (reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms) and work with ABAP developers on delivery.
• Support period-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting and reconciliation activities.
• Develop test cases and perform functional, integration and user-acceptance testing; resolve configuration-related defects.
• Provide functional support, enhancements and issue resolution to the finance user community in line with the agreed SLAs.
• Prepare and maintain configuration and functional documentation and support end-user training.
• Ensure that solutions comply with financial-control, audit and governance requirements.
• Liaise with finance stakeholders, Business Analysts, the SAP team and the Project Manager.

Position Challenges

• Ensuring the integrity of financial data and controls across integrated SAP processes.
• Supporting statutory and management reporting requirements within period-end timelines.
• Aligning finance configuration with cross-module logistics processes.

Decision Making

• Determine FI / CO configuration and solution options within agreed standards and financial-control requirements.
• Recommend process improvements and fit-gap solution options for finance requirements.
• Assess the impact of changes on financial processes, controls and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree / National Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or a related discipline.
• SAP FICO certification is advantageous.
• 5–7 years’ SAP Financials (FI / CO) configuration and support experience.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance is a strong advantage.
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial-control frameworks.

Skills Required

• Strong SAP FI and CO configuration skills across the sub-modules noted above.
• Knowledge of FI integration with MM, SD, PS and PM (and the associated account determination).
• Understanding of period-end / year-end close and financial reporting.
• Ability to write clear functional specifications and test cases.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills and attention to detail.
