Job description
The SCADA Technician is partial support function, for the entire O&M Team, Command Centre services and portfolio of projects under Operations and Maintenance/ Asset Management, in all relevant aspects, as may be determined and requested from time to time, and in line with all the relevant systems of Red Rocket.
The SCADA Technician provides the necessary support and implementation of the continuous, ongoing multi-disciplinary O&M, tasks and activities, that are required to ensure the highest standards and compliance to all software and hardware-related systems within the O&M Team / Command Centre services.
The SCADA Technician provides support to, and/or performs various Operations and Maintenance and Command Centre services and activities not limited to, performance evaluations, and comparisons, the developing, onboarding, maintaining and implementation of performance software tools, procedures and method statements, to fully support and assist the entire O&M Team and Command Centre services from a systems level. Fluent in the use, configuration, setup and maintenance of the related systems utilized by the O&M team. Committed to the developing, deploying and constant implementation of standardizing all potential aspects of the function to efficiently operate, maintain and run the services within the O&M Team, and Command Centre services.
- Performing preventive maintenance in the entire BOP O&M Facility as per the Preventive maintenance plan scheduling for SCADA equipment related to the Substation, MET Mast, Weather stations, Fibre-optic Cables, Terminations, SCADA and Security System.
- Performing unplanned(corrective) repairs for the breakdowns and failures on the facility SCADA devices and equipment
- Liaising with colleagues in finishing pending SCADA activities or fixing unplanned faults and failures in the facility.
- Carrying out troubleshooting/fault finding on SCADA equipment in the Facility.
- Abide by bona fide work practices in relation to the company regulations and working ethics.
- Attending training organized by the company this includes but not limited to, Occupational Health and Safety, First Aid, Fire Fighting.
- Collect, analyze, and report site activity data, including plant operational performance, and contractor activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
- Maintain and manage comprehensive documentation of all SCADA activities, ensuring alignment with the company’s Central SCADA systems
- Support the preparation of detailed reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly summaries, on SCADA related aspects of site operations.
- Identify and escalate any SCADA risks, incidents, or deviations from standard operating procedures to the Command Centre Manager.
- Support in standardizing and optimization of the various systems dedicated to efficiently monitor and manage the assets, in order to comply with Company policies, procedures, standards, and requirements.
- Implementation and continuous maintenance of all data-related aspects of the of SCADA systems
- Support in developing, implementing and improvement of asset performance tools and databases
- Evaluations on short-, medium- and long-term periods of performance indicators not limited to energy production, availability and performance ratios, actual performance versus expected performance indicators
- Ensuring that full and up to date records and systems are in place and are maintained;
- Overall compliance to all the internal Policy and Procedures of the Facilities where applicable;
- Support the O&M Team / Command Centre services in that all information is recorded in both electronic and hard copy and meets with internal and external audit standards and the Red Rocket repository rules;
- Support internal O&M Team/ Command Centre Operations Manuals and relevant procedures, within the overall Operational systems as and when required;
- Verification of performance data, reports and information from third party service providers;
- Implementation of all SCADA tools as provided, and strategies undertaken for different plants during Operations and Maintenance Phase;
- Open to travel and regular prolonged periods at remote facilities; Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Degree/ Diploma in Engineering / IT or relevant field
- Certification in SQL, SCADA and programming courses are advantageous
Minimum Previous Experience:
- 1-3 years working experience in similar role in power plants.
- Extensive Experience working with SCADA platforms of Wind, Solar and Hydro facilities
- Experience in working with SQL Databases, Ubuntu or similar systems
