Key Performance Areas
Job Requirements
- Prepare or review the tender and/or other procurement documents e.g. Purchase specifications, requisitions, User Requirement Specifications etc.
- Managing project tasks to comply with internal Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Managing project tasks to comply with internal Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Development and evaluation of effective strategies for technical projects e.g. licensing corporate SHEQ requirements
- Develop and evaluate decommissioning strategies for technical projects.
- Develop, review and maintain safety cases for Decommissioning facilities.
- Prepare and maintain the applicable licensing documentation.
- Develop decommissioning and/or remediation plans for various projects.
- Review of liability assessment reports.
- Review and assess the Necsa nuclear liability.
- Manage multidisciplinary projects through all the design phases: concept, design, construction/ installation, decommissioning, decontamination, handover, operation.
- Develop new process management systems and maintenance as well as upgrading of existing systems
- Research and develop decommissioning methodologies (involve all activities concerned with research and development specific to the decommissioning project, where the information available to the project is insufficient research).
- Ensure that the documents generated from projects are kept and maintained for the benefit of the department/Necsa/the decommissioning profession.
- Represent Necsa in International Decommissioning meetings/forums/committees etc.
- Ensure continuous development of self with regards to decommissioning knowledge
Key Knowledge & Skills:
- Management: Project management.
- Knowledge of quality systems and regulatory procedures.
- Facilitation of processes (HAZOP’s and other applicable SHEQ evaluation systems)
- Technical writing skills and computer literacy.
- Process design
- Knowledge of contract management
- Knowledge of design of radioactive waste management facilities and processes: Report and procedure writing, Quality assurance, good health (radiation worker).
- Knowledge: Conditioning, treatment, storage and disposal techniques for management of nuclear waste.
- Skills: Problem solving, Interpersonal thinker,
- Computer literacy is essential
- Medically fit to be registered as an occupationally exposed worker.

Minimum Qualifications
- BSc honours (Natural Sciences) or BEng. Minimum Experience
- Experience: At least 3 to 5 years in the Technical, Scientific or Engineering Field. Relevant experience in Nuclear and Project Management.
