Security Manager

Job Purpose

Provides strategic oversight of security governance across Air Chefs operations by ensuring compliance with SACAA, PSIRA, IATA and site security requirements, while protecting people, stock, property, and business reputation. To maintain operational continuity and audit readiness within delegated authority by overseeing contracted security providers, monitoring security risk, and escalating material issues to GM Operations. Develop, implement, and monitor adherence to security and loss control systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective asset protection and compliance with aviation security standards.

Principal Accountabilities

Security Governance, Compliance and Auditing:

• Provides overall accountability for security compliance against SACAA, PSIRA, and site security standards across Air Chefs operations, to maintain zero-findings readiness.
• Leads reviews of policies, site controls, contractor practices, and corrective actions, to close compliance gaps and reduce regulatory exposure.
• Directs evidence gathering and audit response packs for internal, client, and regulatory reviews, to support accurate reporting and timely closeout.
• Formulates site security checklists and control standards for all sites to strengthen consistent application

Contracted security and vendor management:

• Coordinates service delivery with contracted security providers and site managers across all operating locations, to maintain consistent security coverage
• Reviews vendor performance, PSIRA registration, certifications, and service levels, to protect operational continuity and compliance.
• Consolidates service reports, incident logs, and corrective actions for management review, to support informed decisions logs, and corrective actions for management review, to support informed decisions.
• Escalates recurring service failures, contract breaches, or capability gaps to GM Operations, to control risk and accountability.

Stakeholder and Regulatory Liaison:

• Liaises with SACAA inspectors, PSIRA, SAPS, airport operators, airline contacts, clients, and emergency services on security matters, to support alignment.
• Communicates security requirements, access protocols, and audit outcomes to internal operations and external partners, to maintain service continuity.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualification:

• Diploma in Security Management, Risk Management, Policing, or a related field
• PSIRA registration, aviation security, or risk-related certification is advantageous

Experience:

• 8 to 11 years of relevant security experience in the South African market, preferably in aviation, logistics, or multi-site contracted security environments
• Experience managing PSIRA-registered security service providers, multi-site security operations, and compliance monitoring

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong knowledge of access control, incident management, audits, SACAA security requirements, and contractor certification tracking
