2. JOB PURPOSE

To maintain a safe and secure environment by controlling crowds, preventing security incidents, enforcing access control procedures, and responding effectively to emergencies. The Security Officer will apply appropriate crowd management techniques to protect employees, clients, visitors, and members of the public.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and control crowds to maintain order and prevent overcrowding.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and designated areas to ensure safe movement of people.
• Conduct access control, screening, and security patrols as required.
• Identify potential security threats, disturbances, and suspicious activities.
• Apply appropriate crowd control and conflict management techniques.
• Assist with emergency evacuations and implement emergency response procedures.
• Prevent unauthorised access and report security breaches promptly.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, clients, and emergency services.
• Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate security records.
• Enforce company policies, site-specific security procedures, and health and safety requirements.
• Perform any other reasonable security-related duties assigned by management.

4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Crowd Management Certificate – essential.
• Valid PSIRA registration in the appropriate security grade.
• Relevant security qualifications and certificates.
• Previous experience in crowd management, access control, or general security will be an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgement under pressure.
• Physically capable of performing the duties associated with the position.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.

5. ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGEOUS CERTIFICATES

Candidates holding any of the following certificates will be favourably considered, where relevant to the assignment:

• First Aid.
• Firefighting and fire safety.
• Health and Safety.
• Conflict Management and De-escalation.
• Emergency Response.
• Any other relevant security-related training.
