Semi-Skilled Electrical Assistant (6 month contract)

Location: Cape Town (Various site locations)

Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Semi-Skilled Electrical Assistant to support our electrical installation team on active commercial and residential construction sites across Cape Town for an 8-month contract. You will assist qualified electricians with first-fix and second-fix installations, containment, wiring, and general site duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with basic domestic and commercial wiring, cable pulling, and termination under supervision.
• Install electrical containment, including conduit piping (PVC/metal), trunking, tray work, and wire baskets.
• Assist in chasing walls, drilling, cutting, and mounting back boxes, light fittings, and distribution boards.
• Use basic hand and power tools safely (drills, grinders, cutters, crimpers).
• Assist with site setup, offloading materials, inventory handling, and daily site cleanup.
• Adhere strictly to construction health and safety regulations (OHS Act) and site safety protocols.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of practical experience as an electrical assistant or semi-skilled wireman on construction sites. Non Negotiable
• Technical Skills: Solid working knowledge of basic wiring, circuit identification, and containment installation. Essential
• Education: Grade 12 / N2–N3 in Electrical Engineering or relevant TVET/vocational certificate is an advantage.
• Safety: Valid Construction Safety Induction / Red Card or Working at Heights certificate is a plus.
• Transport: Own reliable transport and a valid Code 8/10 driver’s license is highly beneficial.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to handle physical labor, climb ladders, and work on active building sites.

• Willingness to work overtime or on weekends if site deadlines require.
