Semi-Skilled

PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Semi-Skilled Worker (Nuclear) is responsible for providing support to Artisans, Supervisors, and Construction Leaders in the execution of site-based construction and maintenance activities within a nuclear environment. The incumbent will perform general site duties, assist with material handling and preparation activities, and ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality, environmental, and nuclear safety requirements

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Site Operations Support

• Assist Artisans with installation, maintenance, and construction activities on site.
• Ensure work is completed safely, to the required quality standards, and within specified timeframes.
• Support work execution in compliance with project procedures and supervisor instructions.
• Report any issues, changes in scope, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards to supervisors promptly.
• Safeguard materials, equipment, and tools entrusted to the work team.
• Adhere to pre-job briefings and all radiation protection requirements where applicable.
• Maintain exposure levels in radiation-controlled areas in line with ALARA principles.

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to the nuclear safety culture.
• Identify and report unsafe acts, near misses, and hazardous conditions.
• Adhere to all Quality Management System requirements.
• Ensure environmentally responsible work practices, including proper waste disposal and spill prevention.
• Follow all company safety procedures and site regulations.

General and Administrative Support

• Complete and submit accurate daily timesheets.
• Assist with storekeeping and the movement of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Support project preparation and mobilisation activities.
• Assist administrative personnel and project teams when site activities are limited.
• Operate company vehicles for the transportation of personnel, materials, and equipment when required.
• Participate in training, coaching, and skills development initiatives.

QUALIFICATION

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Valid driver's licence required

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 1 year's experience in a construction-related environment.
• Previous experience working in a nuclear environment is essential.
• Exposure to technical or trade-related work will be advantageous

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge:

• Basic knowledge of construction and site work practices.
• Understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Familiarity with nuclear safety principles and radiation protection requirements will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of technical work areas related to construction and maintenance activities
