Job description
About the role
We're hiring a Senior Accountant to take ownership of annual accounts and tax returns for our New Zealand client base. This is a delivery role at its core: technically strong, efficient, and built for someone who takes real pride in getting quality work done and out the door.
You'll be working from anywhere, so we're looking for someone who's genuinely motivated by the work itself — the kind of person who doesn't need to be watched to be productive, and who gets satisfaction from a clean, review-ready file and a job finished on time and on budget.
What you'll be doing
Preparing annual financial statements and income tax returns for NZ clients — companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders. You'll own the full compliance cycle from trial balance to filed return, working accurately and at pace. Files should stand on their own without explanation, and if it isn't documented, it isn't done — that's the standard we hold every file to.
You'll spot the tax efficiencies as you go, not just the compliance boxes, and you'll flag anything that doesn't make sense before it becomes a problem down the line.
Who you are
You've got strong, proven technical ability in annual accounts and tax returns, with a solid track record in practice. You don't need to know NZ tax and reporting on day one — most of our best people didn't — but you do need to be sharp enough to get up to speed fast, and genuinely willing to learn. The core skills carry across; the NZ specifics are learnable, and we'll back you to master them.
You work quickly without cutting corners, and you're happiest when the work is moving. Above all, you're self-driven. Remote work suits you because you're the type who just gets on with it.
What you'll need
Real practice accounting experience with a track record you can point to. Strong, hands-on technical ability in annual accounts and tax returns in your own jurisdiction. The adaptability to learn NZ tax and reporting quickly, and the appetite to actually do it. High efficiency and genuine ownership of your workload. A reliable home office setup and the discipline to manage your own workload and hit your budgets.
Experience with Xero and Karbon is a strong advantage.
Why Bring On Monday
You'll join a team that does the work properly and backs each other to do it. We're result-driven, but we care about efficiency too — the work needs to get done well and on budget, so getting quality files out the door without burning hours is a big part of the job. Fully remote and flexible, built around people who can deliver. If you're technically sharp, fast, and ready to learn a new tax system to a high standard, we'd love to hear from you.
