Senior Accountant

Key Requirements

• B.Com degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with completed SAICA, SAIPA, or equivalent articles.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-articles experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a similar finance role.
• 5–8+ years’ experience in treasury, revenue reconciliation, cash management, or corporate finance.
• Experience within retail, QSR, FMCG, or multi-unit environments.
• Strong knowledge of high-volume transactions, POS systems, and merchant settlement processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, including Sage Evolution or similar.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end processes, and Balance Sheet controls.
• Knowledge of taxation, statutory requirements, audit processes, and payroll.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Ability to manage high volumes of financial data and meet strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review management accounts, Income Statements, Balance Sheet schedules, and financial reports.
• Process journals, accruals, provisions, and other month-end accounting entries.
• Review General Ledger transactions and perform Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding financial items.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements, tax calculations, VAT submissions, and statutory requirements.
• Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Manage stock and inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow reporting, and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve, standardise, and automate finance processes.
• Liaise with operational teams, creditors, payroll, and other stakeholders to resolve financial queries.
• Provide guidance and technical support to junior finance team members.

Qualifications

• B.Com degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Completed SAICA, SAIPA, or equivalent professional articles.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-articles experience.
• Professional qualification or designation such as CA, AGA, SAIPA, CIMA, or ACCA.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Sage Evolution or similar accounting systems.
• Knowledge of payroll systems and payroll accounting.
