Job description
Job Purpose
This post is in the Facility Engineering (FE) Group at Rector Operations (SAFARI-1) and reports directly to the Head: Facility Engineering. The purpose of the post is to participate in / lead SAFARI-1 Request for manufacturing task.
Key Performance Areas
Job Requirements
- Lead and manage all the machine shop tasks and departmental objectives.
- Lead and coordinate SAFARI-1 manufacturing, machining, and fabrication activities.
- Review, plan, and execute manufacturing requests in support of reactor operations and maintenance.
- Liaise with Advanced Manufacturing/external service providers to ensure effective delivery of manufacturing tasks.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, technical documentation, and work instructions.
- Prepare and submit quarterly reports on machine shop activities, performance, and completed work.
- Initiate and manage internal and external procurement processes for machine shop requirements. (i.e. RFQ & IWO’s).
- Prepare, coordinate manufacturing drawings with drawing office and evaluate suppliers for manufacturing services, tools, and equipment.
- Coordinate the procurement of machine shop tools, consumables, spare parts, and measuring instruments.
- Oversee the preventive and corrective maintenance of CNC machines and other workshop equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational requirements while promoting continuous improvement within the machine shop.
- Precision manufacturing of unique & intricate components used in reactor facilities (Nuclear).
- Aiding Engineering development of specialized tooling (e.g. irradiation rigs) in reactor facilities (Nuclear).
- Assembling of Irradiation rigs required for Isotope production (Nuclear).
- Procurement of required material and tooling.
- Lead and manage all the machine shop tasks and departmental objectives.
- Prepare and submit quarterly reports on machine shop activities, performance, and completed work.
- Oversee the preventive and corrective maintenance of CNC machines and other workshop equipment.
- Assist to develop skills of other Machinists (Skills Transfer).

Minimum Qualifications
- Matriculation certificate.
- Certified Instrument Maker / Machinist / Toolmaker.
- Computer literacy certificate. (compulsory).
- Minimum Experience
- 5 Years in Instrument Maker / Machinist / Toolmaker experience (preferably 2 years thereof in Nuclear Environment).
