SENIOR ARTISAN: WORKSHOP

Maintenance of assets and infrastructure

• Ensure optimal maintenance of assets, infrastructure, and facilities.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Oversee timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Ensure assets support effective core business operations.
• Conduct effective facility and infrastructure maintenance operations.

Maintenance and use of tools and equipment

• Ensure tools and equipment are clean, safe, and in working order.
• Enforce correct usage according to specifications.
• Assist and advise management on stock levels.
• Maintain and oversee tool registers.
• Ensure effective management of workshop tools and equipment.
• Provide training on mechanisation and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.

Occupational Health and Safety

• Ensure visible and consistent use of safety equipment (PPE).
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment.
• Ensure effective provision of health, safety, and risk management services.

Repair of equipment

• Oversee and perform repair of equipment and infrastructure.
• Manage breakdowns and crisis situations, including overtime when required.
• Supervise all phases of repair work.
• Ensure compliance with technical standards (including 11 kV lines where applicable).
• Ensure effective workshop maintenance and repairs.

Installing of Equipment

• Lead installation of new equipment.
• Ensure installations meet technical and safety standards.
• Oversee commissioning and functionality of installed equipment.

Operational and Mechanisation Management

• Ensure effective management of fleet, machinery, storage, and workshop.

• Ensure proper coordination and management of operations.

• Manage mechanisation projects and budgets in liaison with the Centre Manager.

• Conduct irrigation maintenance services.

• N6 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification with a Trade Test Certificate.

• Advanced Diploma in Agricultural Engineering will be an added advantage.

• 3-5 years of experience in a wide range of artisan work (Tractor maintenance and repairs, Mechanical, Irrigation, Maintenance of farm equipment and boreholes etc.).

• Experience in workshop supervision, coordination, or leading a team will be an added advantage.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Valid South African driver’s licence.

Competitive remuneration package will be congruent with the scope, responsibilities, and the stature of the position.
