We are looking for an experienced Senior Auditor – Food Production to join our team. This role combines hands-on auditing with technical leadership responsibilities, supporting audit quality, auditor development, and operational excellence across the Africa region. - Responsibilities: Conduct food safety audits across a range of recognised certification schemes.
- Carry out technical reviews and support audit quality activities.
- Provide guidance, training, and onboarding support to auditors.
- Assist with auditor capacity planning and resource management.
- Collaborate with auditors, schedulers, account managers, and business leaders to ensure effective audit delivery.
- Monitor auditor performance, report quality, and key performance indicators.
- Conduct witness audits and support integrity and calibration programmes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across audit delivery activities.
- Monitor report turnaround times and follow up on outstanding actions.
- Maintain accurate records and audit-related information within internal systems.
- Support a strong culture of safety, quality, inclusion, and professionalism.
- Travel as required.
Qualifications: Essential:
- Degree or diploma in a food-related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of experience within food production or a related food industry environment.
- Lead Auditor training.
- Experience with food safety and quality management systems, including HACCP.
- Experience as a food safety team member.
- Approved auditor status for one or more recognised schemes such as BRCGS, IFS, FSSC 22000, or GLOBALG.A.P.
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality, and agricultural standards.
- Experience conducting audits and producing high-quality audit reports.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
Nice-to-Have:
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Agriculture, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Current Lead Auditor qualification across multiple certification schemes.
- Experience conducting witness assessments and technical reviews.
- In-depth knowledge of current food safety certification standards.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing auditors.
- Advanced digital and reporting skills.
- Experience working across multiple countries or regions.
- Additional expertise in agriculture, sustainability, or supplier assurance programmes. Previous experience supporting audit integrity or quality management programmes.
