Remote Professionals is a UK-based accounting and ousourciing firm that provide a dedicated remote accounting and bookkeeping manage service to UK & Irish professional services firms in the UK & Ireland.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and client-focused Senior Client Accounting Manager to manage a portfolio of UK accounting clients and coordinate the delivery of high-quality accounting and bookkeeping services.

You will be the main point of contact for your assigned clients. You will ensure that deadlines are met, queries are resolved promptly and services are delivered accurately and efficiently.

The role also involves reviewing financial work, coordinating team workloads, supporting client onboarding and identifying opportunities to improve service delivery.

What you’ll be doing

Client relationship management

  • Manage a portfolio of UK accounting clients.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional client relationships.
  • Conduct regular client meetings and provide clear progress updates.
  • Respond promptly to client queries and escalate complex matters where necessary.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, retention, risks and service opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate client activity records in Salesforce or a similar CRM system.

Service delivery and quality assurance

  • Coordinate the delivery of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, management accounts, year-end accounts and audit support services.
  • Review completed work before it is submitted to clients.
  • Ensure work meets company quality standards and agreed client requirements.
  • Provide clear feedback and corrections to team members.
  • Minimise errors, review points, rework and client amendments.
  • Ensure all client deadlines and service-level expectations are achieved.

Workload and project coordination

  • Allocate work according to team capacity, priorities and deadlines.
  • Monitor progress across assigned client portfolios.
  • Track project budgets and hours worked against agreed budgets.
  • Identify delivery bottlenecks and take corrective action.
  • Coordinate effectively between clients, accounting teams and internal departments.
  • Communicate changes in client priorities and deadlines to relevant team members.

Team support and communication

  • Maintain regular communication with accountants and bookkeepers.
  • Conduct weekly team and workflow meetings.
  • Monitor productivity, workload and service delivery.
  • Provide coaching, support and constructive feedback.
  • Assist team members with accounting, bookkeeping, software and client-related queries.
  • Escalate technical, operational or performance concerns when required.

Client onboarding

  • Coordinate the onboarding of new clients.
  • Develop onboarding and implementation plans.
  • Document client processes, requirements and workflows.
  • Ensure a smooth transition into ongoing service delivery.
  • Monitor onboarding progress and address issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate standard operating procedures, training resources and client documentation.

Compliance and process improvement

  • Ensure client work complies with applicable accounting standards, tax legislation, VAT requirements, payroll regulations and internal procedures.
  • Stay informed about relevant regulatory and technical developments.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Support automation and workflow-standardisation initiatives.
  • Help improve productivity, turnaround times and the client experience.

Billing and month-end support

  • Review team timesheets and Lists of Duties for assigned clients.
  • Reconcile hours worked against budgeted hours.
  • Ensure completed work is accurately recorded before month-end.
  • Update billing information and validate billable hours.
  • Prepare notes covering additional work, write-offs, credited hours, scope changes and other billing adjustments.
  • Ensure client-facing reports and billing documentation are accurate and issued on time.

Essential requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, client services or account management within an accounting practice.
  • Experience managing multiple client portfolios and deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating accountants, bookkeepers or outsourced finance teams.
  • Experience reviewing bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, management accounts or year-end accounts.
  • Good knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, management accounts and annual financial statements.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or CaseWare.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Confidence coordinating remote teams.
  • A professional, proactive and service-focused approach.

Desirable requirements

  • A professional accounting qualification such as SAICA, SAIPA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Experience working with UK accounting firms or UK clients.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM system.
