Senior Counter Salesperson

Do you have experience in a consumer or retail environment within the construction, tooling or building materials industry?

Are you confident handling sales orders, advising Customers on products, and providing excellent service at the counter?

Do you have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while remaining professional and friendly?

Our client, a leading distributor, importer and wholesaler of quality products in the construction, flooring, tiling, core drilling and diamond tooling industry, is seeking 2 proactive Counter Salespeople to join their head-office team in Montague Gardens, Cape Town and Boksburg, Johannesburg respectively.

The role is the first point of contact for customers. You will process sales orders (email, phone or in person), provide product advice and recommendations, handle payments, prepare picking slips, process quotations and back orders, and keep the showroom clean and tidy, all while delivering friendly, professional service.

ESSENTIAL: Grade 12 / Matric

ESSENTIAL: 1+ years’ experience in a consumer/retail environment (similar industry preferred)

ESSENTIAL: Excellent attention to detail, organisational and admin skills

ESSENTIAL: Punctual, trustworthy and able to work under pressure

ESSENTIAL: Strong Customer service skills

ADVANTAGEOUS: Microsoft, Sage or K8 ERP experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

• First contact who meets Customers when they enter.
• Take responsible for answering Customer questions, advising Customers and /or make, recommendation on alternatives product, upselling where required.
• Efficient processing of sales orders via email, phone, or at the sales counter.
• Interact with clients, ability in opening and closing sales skill.
• Provide product information with knowledge to answer any questions.
• Receive payments via cash of card machine.
• Preparing picking slips, and processing sales orders for delivery or for collection at the sales counter.
• Process quotations, follow up with back orders timeously with efficiency.
• Ensure front of house counter sales area presents a clean and tidy show room.
• Treat all Customers with respect and courtesy.
• Additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management.
