Job description

Key Responsibilities

Lead Design & Implementation: Manage medium and low voltage (MV/LV) electrical distribution networks for urban and rural environments.
Project Delivery: Plan and deliver infrastructure including substations, feeders, roadway/aerial cable networks, and street lighting systems.
Technical Analysis: Perform load assessments, fault level studies, voltage drop analysis, and network optimization.
Compliance Management: Ensure all designs comply with applicable standards (SANS, NRS, NESC) and regulatory requirements.
Documentation: Prepare technical reports, specifications, calculations, drawings, and tender documentation.
Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and support multidisciplinary project teams.
Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise directly with municipalities, stakeholders, and clients on technical and project matters.
Safety & Quality: Ensure health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance on all projects

Requirements

Education: BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 7).
Professional Registration: Registered Professional Engineer (PrEng) or PrEng Technologist with ECSA.
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ post-registration experience in electrical engineering.
Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of MV/LV distribution systems, substations, protection coordination, and SCADA/EMS systems.
Software Proficiency: Expert in relevant design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, Dialux).
Skills: Excellent problem-solving, leadership, communication, and report writing skills.
Advantageous: A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
