Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Senior Electrical Technician role based in the City of Johannesburg. The Senior Electrical Technician will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing power factor correction and harmonics filtration equipment at customer sites. Daily tasks include performing diagnostic tests, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring that electrical panels, capacitors, reactors, and related components operate safely and efficiently. The role involves conducting site inspections and audits, documenting findings, and preparing technical reports and recommendations for system improvements. The Senior Electrical Technician will also provide technical support to customers, mentor junior technicians, comply with safety and quality standards, and collaborate with engineering and sales teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong practical experience in electrical maintenance and working safely with electrical equipment in industrial or commercial environments.
- Relevant technical qualification ( Trade Test, Wireman's licence (3 Phase) are essential
- Solid understanding of electricity principles and applied electrical engineering concepts relevant to power factor correction and harmonics filtration.
- Proven troubleshooting skills for complex electrical systems, including fault-finding, root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Hands-on experience with installation, commissioning, and servicing of electrical equipment, ideally including panels, capacitors, contactors, and protection devices.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety standards and familiarity with relevant electrical codes and regulations.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently on-site as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with power factor correction systems, harmonics analysis, or energy efficiency projects is highly beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required. Must have own reliable transport to get to work and back
- Proficient in MS Office
