Why This Role Matters

Zinia is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Platform Engineer (Linux) to support one of our enterprise clients on a six-month fixed-term engagement.

This role is responsible for modernising, standardising, and improving the client's Linux infrastructure across a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will deliver engineering improvements, strengthen platform stability and security, implement automation, and ensure effective knowledge transfer to the client's internal teams.

Role Overview

The Senior Infrastructure Platform Engineer will lead the implementation and optimisation of enterprise Linux platforms while supporting infrastructure modernisation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Platform Engineering

Design, implement, and standardise Linux infrastructure across on-premises, virtualised, and cloud environments to improve reliability, consistency, and performance.

Automation & Platform Optimisation

Develop automation using Bash and Ansible while promoting Infrastructure-as-Code to improve efficiency and reduce manual administration.

Security & Compliance

Implement Linux hardening, remediate vulnerabilities, and ensure environments align with recognised security standards and best practices.

Infrastructure Support

Collaborate with infrastructure teams to deliver platform improvements, resolve complex issues, and support upgrades and migrations.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

Produce technical documentation, operational procedures, and deliver structured knowledge transfer to ensure successful handover to the client's internal teams.

Requirements

Essential

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• 5–8 years' enterprise Linux engineering experience.
• Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience delivering Linux modernisation projects.
• Strong automation and configuration management experience.
