Job description
Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to manage safety, health, environmental and quality requirements across mining operations.
Key Responsibilities Not limited to:
* Manage and implement SHEQ policies, procedures and management systems.
* Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and related legislation.
* Maintain and improve systems aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
* Lead risk assessments, safety audits, inspections and incident investigations.
* Conduct or oversee investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
* Manage related safety compliance and operational requirements.
* Monitor contractor compliance and site SHEQ performance.
* Prepare SHEQ reports, statistics and corrective-action plans.
* Promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the operation.
* Liaise with management, employees, contractors and regulatory authorities.
Minimum Requirements
*Degree or recognised qualification in Health, Safety and Environmental Management
* COMSOC 1 and COMSOC 2
* Valid Blasting Certificate or Blasting Ticket
* Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
* Experience with ICAM investigations or similar incident-investigation systems.
* In-depth knowledge of MHSA and OHSA compliance
* At least 10 years’ experience in the mining industry
* Relevant experience in a senior SHEQ or HSE Manager position.
* Willingness to travel or work across various mining locations in South Africa.
