We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic and dedicated team.

The ideal incumbent should be professional, proactive and accurate. The Senior Accountant will have strong communication skills and numerical ability. The Senior Accountant will report to the Finance Manager.

The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient and effective operation of the department and help the company meet its financial goals. This way it can make the right decisions and accomplish long term success.

Location Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse (on-site)

Type Full-Time

Experience A minimum of five (5) + years’ experience commercial accounting experience. A minimum of two (2) + years’ team management experience.

What You'll Do

· Establishing different accounts

· Maintaining records of financial transactions by posting and verifying information

· Developing systems to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts

· Maintaining subsidiary accounts by posting, verifying, and allocating transactions

· Reconciling entries to balance subsidiary accounts

· Maintaining a balanced general ledger

· Preparing a monthly financial statement

· Preparing financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising accounting information

· Monitoring for variances from month to month

· Advising management on compliance needs

· Preparing financial analyses and reports

· Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure

· Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets

· Preparation/ review of monthly working paper files and high-risk balance sheet reconciliations

· Assisting with annual audit preparations

· Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance

· Preparing local, and special tax returns

· Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures

· Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned

· Preparation/ review of monthly management accounts including analysis/ commentary

· Timeous corrective action against internal audit and external audit findings

· Ensure logical saving of all work, templates, etc. monthly and yearly such that each year’s financial records can stand on its own when enquiries/ investigations/audits take place

· Assist the BEE project team to ensure the improvement and sustenance of the company’s BEE score

· Liaise with the various departments and regional/operational managers to ensure efficient reporting

· Support the FM, CFO and COO with specific projects and reports and data extractions

· Assist the FM, CFO and COO with building financial models/ billing models/ project costing

· Fixed asset register management

· Any other such duties that may be required

What You’ll Need

· Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 equivalent qualification.

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline (required).

· Completion of SAICA accredited articles in an accounting firm.

· Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite) with advanced MS Excel skills (required).

· Pastel Evolution / Pastel experience (advantageous).

· A minimum of five (5) + years’ experience commercial accounting experience.

· A minimum of two (2) + years’ team management experience.

· Working knowledge of tax laws and accounting principles.

· Strong financial analysis skills.

· Ability to train and manage staff.

· Ability to work with little to no supervision.

· Experience working in a fast-paced environment and inventories.

· A clear criminal and credit record.
