Job description
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Matric certificate / equivalent
Diploma/BCom in Accounting
Studying towards an accreditation
Proficiency in IFRS, The Income Tax Act and Companies Act.
5 to 10 years’ experience.
Experience within mining, engineering, construction, or project-based industries is advantageous.
Experience with: Oracle, Sage, or equivalent ERP systems
Advanced financial reporting systems
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Advanced IFRS knowledge.
Advanced taxation knowledge, including Income Tax, Provisional Tax, VAT and Dividend Withholding Tax
Companies Act compliance.
Treasury and cash flow management.
Working in capital management.
Financial analysis and reporting, Budgeting and forecasting.
Audit management, Hyperion reporting.
Inventory accounting and costing.
Microsoft Excel.
Strategic financial thinking.
Business partnering and stakeholder management.
Coaching and mentoring and ability to lead and empower staff
Decision-making and problem solving.
Driving process improvement and digital transformation
Strong analytical ability, Attention to detail and accuracy.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Perform detailed analysis of the Statement of Profit and Loss.
Review and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
Upload monthly financial information and reporting packs onto Hyperion.
Drive reporting improvements through process automation and digitalization initiatives.
Maintain expert knowledge of: IFRS, Income Tax Act, VAT Act, Companies Act and Other applicable financial legislation
Prepare and review: Provisional Tax calculations, Annual Income Tax calculations, Dividend Withholding Tax (WHT) calculations
Ensure statutory submissions are accurate and submitted within prescribed deadlines.
Manage Companies Act compliance requirements.
Prepare and submit Stats SA declarations and surveys.
Liaise with tax consultants and regulatory authorities where required.
Monitor suspense accounts and ensure appropriate resolution of outstanding items.
Perform regular Intercompany Matrix reviews to ensure accuracy of intercompany transactions.
Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with company inventory policies and accounting standards.
Prepare and review: Weekly cash flow forecasts, Monthly cash flow forecasts, Budgeted cash flow projections
Administer dividend declarations and management fee transactions.
Maintain strong relationships with banking institutions and financial service providers.
Analyze working capital trends and identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
Assist with tax audits and financial reviews by regulatory authorities.
Maintain audit readiness throughout the financial year.
Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting systems and processes.
Support ERP optimization and system enhancements.
Participate in Hyperion reporting development and maintenance.
Improve reporting efficiency through automation and data analytics.
Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls and business processes.
Ensure compliance with financial governance frameworks.
Monitor financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Develop and maintain finance policies and standard operating procedures.
Ensure financial activities comply with delegation of authority limits.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to finance team members.
Support development of Accountants and Finance Clerks.
Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, HR, Payroll, and Project teams.
Support executive management with financial insights and recommendations
