Your day at NTT DATA

Role Purpose

The Senior Financial Accountant is a senior technical finance specialist responsible for statutory compliance, financial control, forecasting governance, and balance sheet integrity across assigned business units and international entities. The role strengthens audit readiness, IFRS compliance, financial reporting accuracy and enhancing control maturity within the IS finance function.

This position provides deep technical accounting expertise and senior finance capacity to ensure sustainable governance, risk mitigation, and high-quality financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

1. Statutory Reporting & Audit Coordination

  • Accountable for statutory reporting, audit coordination, and regulatory submissions for assigned business units.
  • Assemble annual audit information and respond to complex technical audit queries.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax and legislative requirements across applicable jurisdictions.

2. Financial Control & Balance Sheet Integrity

  • Own balance sheet integrity across assigned entities, including reconciliation governance and resolution of long-outstanding items.
  • Ensure IFRS compliance and technical accounting accuracy.
  • Implement and strengthen internal financial controls and system reconciliations.
  • Own IFRS 16 leases integrity across assigned business units, including reconciliations.
  • Identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective action to enhance governance maturity.

3. Month-End Close & Reporting Governance

  • Lead and oversee month-end close activities across assigned business units, ensuring timely, accurate, and controlled financial reporting.
  • Compile and process complex journal entries and accounting adjustments.
  • Ensure integrity of reported figures and alignment with group reporting standards.

4. Forecasting Governance & Lever Tracking

  • Own and govern the financial forecasting process across assigned business units.
  • Maintain and enhance forecasting models to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  • Track key financial levers and perform variance analysis to provide clear management insight.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to validate forecast inputs while maintaining financial governance standards.

5. Technical Accounting & IFRS Expertise

  • Provide subject matter expertise on complex IFRS matters, including prepayments, intercompany accounting, revenue recognition, and technical accounting judgments.
  • Support resolution of complex accounting issues across the business.
  • Reduce reliance on external advisors through strong in-house technical capability.

6. Continuous Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and process enhancement.
  • Recommend improvements to financial systems, reporting processes, and control frameworks.
  • Promote best-practice financial governance across the IS business.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Strong technical IFRS knowledge and accounting expertise
  • Advanced financial reporting and analytical capability
  • Sound understanding of IFRS16, prepayments and intercompany transactions
  • Strong working knowledge of local tax legislation
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to translate financial data into actionable insight
  • High attention to detail and strong governance mindset
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and self-managed

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • AGA(SA) qualification highly advantageous

Required Experience

  • Financial accounting experience within a complex or multinational organisation
  • Proven experience managing statutory reporting and audit processes
  • Strong month-end close and balance sheet management experience
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP experience advantageous)
