Role Overview

An established and highly stable construction services firm is seeking a dependable Financial Accountant to join their Bellville-based finance team. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, you will manage the end-to-end day-to-day transactional accounting function up to the trial balance. You will be responsible for ensuring complete processing accuracy, executing critical reconciliations, and delivering reliable, audit-ready financial records with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile all daily financial transactions across sales, purchases, cash, bank, and petty cash.
• Maintain the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the fixed asset register.
• Process complex monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
• Maintain and reconcile inventory records, tracking all stock movements across operations.
• Calculate, prepare, and submit VAT201 returns directly via the SARS eFiling platform.
• Compile monthly management accounts, supporting schedules, and trial balance reports.
• Prepare comprehensive year-end audit working papers for the external accountant.

Qualifications & Experience

• Completed SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA articles.
• Proven experience in processing and reconciling transactions completely up to trial balance.
• Proficiency in Sage Business Cloud Accounting (Sage Online) and the SARS eFiling platform.
• Prior experience managing inventory, stock movements, and stock reconciliations is highly beneficial.
