Sylvania Metals are seeking a Senior HR Officer to lead comprehensive human resources functions within its Eastern Operations, specializing in employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management tailored for the mining industry. This role demands a Human Resources qualification (NQF Level 7) and a minimum of seven years' experience in a similar capacity, emphasizing strong employee relations expertise. The successful candidate will drive strategic HR initiatives, ensuring compliance and fostering community engagement while supporting operational excellence. Applicants must be located near Steelpoort/Burgersfort or willing to relocate, possess a valid driver's license, and have reliable transport. Minimum Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field (NQF Level 7 or equivalent).
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience in Employee Relations within a mining environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of working collaboratively in team settings.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks performed.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to dynamic work environments.
- Commitment to upholding workplace ethics and fostering a positive work culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for full HR generalist function for our Eastern Plant Operations;
- Provide advisory service to line managers pertaining to HR policies and procedures;
- Ensure high quality of HR support, reporting & service delivery in partnering with Line Management;
- Preparation/implementation and reporting of the Operation’s labour plan;
- Initiation of the recruitment/promotion cycle in respect of Job postings, Offers, Contracts, referencechecks, payroll engagement and personal file initiation;
- Ensuring all aspects of the on-boarding process are addressed;
- Manages the relationship with organized labour and other non-unionised Stakeholders;
- Overseas the entire Discipline and Grievance processes;
- Coordinate the annual performance review process for the Eastern Operations;
- Oversee Training and development functions within the Eastern Region;
- Oversee Community Liaison Functions within Eastern Region;
- Actively participates in Employment Equity and Skills Development Committees.
