WE'RE HIRING: IT SPECIALIST

Location: Johannesburg | Nancefield Paints Group

We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on IT specialist who can troubleshoot under pressure, solve problems quickly and help transform the way our business uses technology.

This is not simply an IT support position.

We need someone who understands software, systems, networks, infrastructure, cybersecurity, automation and AI — and who is constantly learning, testing and improving.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You should be the person who:

• Can troubleshoot hardware, software, network and system problems confidently and quickly.
• Remains calm when systems go down and everyone needs an answer.
• Doesn't stop at temporary fixes — you find the root cause.
• Can work across multiple branches, users, devices and systems.
• Understands networks, servers, backups, permissions, security and disaster recovery.
• Has strong software knowledge and can understand how different business systems integrate.
• Is knowledgeable and practically experienced with AI tools, automation and emerging technology.
• Can identify processes that should be automated rather than repeatedly handled manually.
• Understands cybersecurity and can help protect company systems, information and access.
• Documents systems properly so knowledge does not sit with one person.
• Can manage IT projects from investigation through implementation.
• Learns new technology independently and keeps their knowledge current.
• Can explain technical problems to non-technical employees without making things unnecessarily complicated.

YOUR MISSION

Your first priority will be to understand our existing IT environment and then help us stabilise, secure, simplify and modernise it.

We want faster systems, stronger security, better infrastructure, reliable backups, improved connectivity, better documentation and greater use of automation and AI.

You will be expected to identify:

What is working.
What is outdated.
What is vulnerable.
What is slowing us down.
What should be automated.
And what needs to change.

Then help us change it.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

Experience or strong practical knowledge in areas such as:

• Windows environments and Microsoft technologies
• Networking, routers, switches, Wi-Fi and VPNs
• Hardware and workstation troubleshooting
• Servers and cloud environments
• Software installation, configuration and troubleshooting
• User accounts, permissions and access management
• Cybersecurity and endpoint protection
• Backup, recovery and disaster-recovery procedures
• Business/POS/ERP systems
• Remote support
• System monitoring
• Microsoft 365
• AI tools and practical business applications of AI
• Workflow automation and system integrations
• IT asset management and documentation

Relevant qualifications and certifications are advantageous, but proven ability matters to us.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical technical and troubleshooting assessment.

Pay: From R10 000,00 per month

Experience:

• IT infrastructure: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Drivers Licence (Required)

Willingness to travel:

• 25% (Preferred)
